My name is Elisheva Davis, I’m 22 years old
One year ago, on October 8th, (yes, only one day after that infamous day) I fell from the top bunk and tore my spinal cord.
I’ve been wheelchairbound for over a year since I landed in a heap on the floor. I can’t move my back, I can’t walk.
I don’t know if you realize how limiting it is to be in a wheelchair.
I’m sitting too low down to join in the conversations around me.
I can’t go out for fun without my friends, because I know I’m a bother to accommodate
I’m completely dependent on favors to meet my basic needs.
I live in Ramot, away from my family in Beitar, because my old home wasn’t wheelchair accessible.
I had 3 back surgeries to try to repair the damage, but nothing helped. We have one more hope: there is a surgery abroad that could help me stand on my own 2 feet. Can you imagine how good that would feel?
But there’s a huge catch: it’s completely out of my budget. The surgery, plus a medical flight, will cost us $90,000. Medical insurance has refused to pay, and we don’t have that kind of money because we’ve spent so much on my care and rent until now.
If I don’t go for this surgery, I could be stuck like this until the end of my life. I’m only 22, I want to marry, have kids, and give to the world. I don’t want to be limited to a wheelchair when I don’t have to be!
It’s my dream to feel good, to stand up. $90,000 is a big sum, but the Jewish nation is even bigger! Please give me my deepest wish, something that everyone else takes for granted - the ability to stand on my own 2 feet. Every donation is meaningful to me.
Thank you from the depths of my heart - you have no idea how much your help means to me.
