“WEALTH AND PROSPERITY IN YOUR HOME”: Help 14 Struggling Brides & Grooms Get Married This Month, And Receive The Rabbanim's Blessing For Health & Wealth

When I was just a teenager, I lost my father, a”h, after a long and painful illness. His passing turned our world upside down. My mother was suddenly alone, trying to raise and provide for all of us.

I remember always feeling like a burden. I tried not to ask for anything — not even when I truly needed it — because I knew how hard things already were.

Now, Baruch Hashem, I’m engaged. My wedding is planned for the end of Cheshvan… but we have nothing. No clothing, no basic appliances, nothing to start a home. My mother wants so much to help, but she simply can’t.

It’s painful to admit, but I feel again like that same helpless child — a burden on my widowed mother — when all I want is to begin my married life with joy and dignity.

— Chaya’la, age 20

Chaya’la is one of 14 brides & grooms from Yerushalayim who are getting married in the month of Cheshvan. No one knows how badly they need assistance more than the rabbanim they go to for help.

Rav Moshe Brandsdorfer shlita and Rav Moshe Tzadka shlita released a powerful letter, detailing the great merit of tzedaka to the poor of the holy city of Yerushalayim - especially to widows and orphans.

They end with a powerful bracha for donors:

“And in the merit of this great mitzvah — to revive and uplift broken hearts — may you be blessed with abundant heavenly blessings, strong health and radiant light, wealth and prosperity in your home, and constant Divine assistance. May you merit to see the consolation of Jerusalem speedily in our days, Amen.”

The words of our Sages are well known and widely cited regarding the great merit — and indeed the obligation — to support and sustain the poor of Jerusalem. The Chasam Sofer wrote that all Jews are considered as relatives to the needy of Jerusalem.

Even in our times, a large and vibrant community of Torah-observant and G-d-fearing families resides in Jerusalem.

We therefore turn now with an heartfelt appeal on behalf of the holy organization “Kupas Yerushalayim,” which carries the burden of caring for the poor families living in Jerusalem’s central neighborhoods — people who know personally the families and neighbors in need around them.

To our dear brothers and sisters of Klal Yisrael: Strengthen yourselves in this great mitzvah! Hold fast to the Tree of Life and merit the promised reward for sustaining even one Jewish soul — and all the more so for helping widows and orphans.

And in the merit of this great mitzvah — to revive and uplift broken hearts — may you be blessed with abundant heavenly blessings, strong health and radiant light, wealth and prosperity in your home, and constant Divine assistance. May you merit to see the consolation of Jerusalem speedily in our days, Amen.

Kupas Yerushalayim is a united effort of five local tzedaka funds dedicated to supporting needy families across the city, especially in times of emergency. By working together, these communities—Geula-Kerem Avraham, Beis Yisrael, Meah Shearim, Shmuel Hanavi, and Arzei Habira—can provide greater financial assistance to hundreds of families while strengthening their fundraising efforts to ensure ongoing support for those in need.
